The following images are designed to help collectors better understand the obverse to reverse die alignments which are often used when describing the 1836, 1838 and 1839 Gobrecht dollars. These alignments, along with die crack and die rust information, are used by specialists to determine whether one of these dollars is an original or a restrike. The coins shown in these images are encapsulated to provide collectors a better frame of reference.
