George T. Morgan's famous Liberty Head design previously believed to have been modeled after Anna Williams. Research by Robert W. Julian notes that this is actually the first of the 4 Morgan dies of this year.

Only 3 examples are known as follows:

1) Col Green, Judd (B.G. Johnson 7/23/43 invoice), Stacks 3/80, Hughes 7/80, Superior 2/82 MBS - choice proof but stained on rims

2) Lohr, Davidson-B/R 11/76, Bass-HWBRF, B/M 5/99 as PCGS64RB, Simpson-Heritage 1/22 FUN - PCGS67RB, Pollock plate

3) Evans-B/M 8/98, Kagins, Teletrade 4/10/99, Teletrade 8/2/99, Superior 3/00 (not sold), Heritage 1/01, Heritage 1/07 as NGC66BN, Simpson collection - PCGS66BN - illustrated above, earlier pedigree uncertain

One of these is ex-Farouk-Sothebys 2/54, Bolender 9/56 - probably #3.

This design was also struck in silver J1518/P1682 and is unique.
