This is the second shield nickel design with small motto and split date combined with the Short 5 reverse.
Examples were struck as follows:
Nickel J494/P581 This is unconfirmed. Taxay lists the Crosby sale but lot 1800 was copper and not nickel.
Copper and/or Bronze J495-J496/P582 with only 3 or 4 believed to exist.
Incomplete white metal obverse splashers, P3278 and P3279 are in the collection of the Library Company of Philadelphia.
The obverse die contains a die cutting error. The motto was started too far to the right in a location similar to the regular 1866 shield nickel obverse die and then corrected. The second leaf points to the remnants of the letter "T" as shown in the image below.
