The following is the central portion of Morgan's famous 1877 half dollar pattern J1512-J1513/P1676-P1677 that has been set on top of an octagonal copper host. It is unclear if this is a machined example of J1513/P1677. It was offered as lot 1472 of Stacks January 2002 sale where it realized $3450 and has since reappeared in Heritage January 2007 FUN sale where it brought $9200.
We are calling it P3429 to give people notice of its existence, but, since it is not believed to be a true die trial, it will not likely be placed in appendix A of any future editions of Judd.
