The following striking in copper is from an 1804 obverse JR-2 die in its latest state. These are believed to have been struck outside the mint from dies sold as scrap.
Only 2 are known both struck on large cent planchets. The illustrated example above, courtesy of Heritage, was struck on an 1838 large cent and is from the Ed Price collection sold in Heritage 7/08 ANA sale. Click on the thumbnail image to see an enlargement.
